Season 3 playoffs are here. This is the Fall season, and the cold winds really cooled down some teams. Others, probably to stay warm in the cold, started to get hot!
Here's the news, tidbit style:
The Sacramento Mountaineers put together the perfect season. This means 4 wins. And their win differentials were huge. They outplayed their opponents by a total of 36 points. So they get a bye, and . . . they get cold. In their first game in the playoffs, they played the Des Moines Royals and lost, 12 to 6. After turning the ball over on their second play, they went on to turn it over 4 more times. Not good.
In their first game of the playoffs, the Springfield Wolves got their kickoff returner all pumped up. Mike Moses rolled a stellar return for 45 total yards. This included 3 breakaways. And then, the rest of the game was a pain. Wolves lose to the Coyotes.
The Des Moines Royals had to play a knock-knock game. This means that they had to play in the very first round of the playoffs just to get in the house. But they did fine. Their pass rusher Nathan Foles stepped up with a year high of . . . 5 SACKS. Incredible. They win this game, the divisional game, and wind up in the Gridbowl for the second time in 3 seasons. Here's their coach after they sealed their spot:
Also in Gridbowl 3--the Tallahassee Leopards! They have a perfect season going, folks. They won all 4 of their regular-season games, had a bye, and expertly handed the Montgomery Coyotes a bit L in the divisional round. Can the Leopards make it 6 in a row, and make Gridball history? Just wait and see!
The Honolulu Surfers made a brief appearance in the playoffs, but it will prove to be forgettable. What can you say? When you have 6 penalties in the game, everything is going wrong! They're out, but I hear they have purged all bad memories. Their coach has taken to wearing a mask, and the team is surfing in the big waves of the hurricane season.
